Sanded threw copper on aluminum rim

I recently received a cast aluminum harley rim and had some adhesion problems and had some sand threw to the bare aluminum. I applied zincate, strike nickel and then bright copper. Is it possible to maybe zincate, then strike copper cause i have that also then bright copper? Any ideas
