Electoless nickel and zinc

Would it be possible to use the pot metal electroless kit over zinc plated fasteners? I was researching zinc plating processes and it seems zinc-nickel alloy offers excellent corrosion protection. Could I get some of the benefits of this process by using the pot metal electroless kit over zinc? I prefer the look of nickel over zinc, but I like the sacrificial protection of zinc. I appreciate any feedback.

Upon further research it appears that pot metal EN is not a very attractive finish. It seems the better option would be to zinc plate, then flash copper plate, and then nickel plate. Any opinions on this combination?
