Default Copy Cad with heaters, Temp. up past??

With my plastic bucket insulated , even after 2 hrs, my cad. solution won,t go part 95 degree,s with a single heater, anybody else seeing this problem?? Im using a 1 gal. and 1/2 system. If i use both heaters im really limited on space to cad parts. Im being told a Porcelain pot is better to use?? true?? Also abody know the shelf life of the cad solution sitting

Yes. See this previous discussion:

copy cad power problems

I'm using a 200w aquarium heater in a 3 gallon NON-insulated tank and have no problems getting to 100º+. Your heater is either too small, or defective.

Also discussed in the above discussion. The zinc electrolyte is an acid, it may react w/porcelains, but I don't know for sure. Stick w/the recommended plastics.

My original formula is 2 1/2 years old and still working good.

Depends on how cold the electrolyte is to begin with.

My workbench is in an unheated basement. In the summer, when it's 90º outside, the basement is 70-75º. Takes about an hour to get it to 105º.

In the winter, below freezing outside, the basement is about 45º. With the old formula, it took about an hour to get it to 70º.

Haven't used the new formula in winter yet, but from the above, I'd say about 2 hours to go from 45º to 100º.

I have the 1.5 gal buckets so it's not too bad to start with but I wanted to conserver power($$$) and get things up to working temp a but quicker. What I did was go to a local HW store, and purchase some of that insulating bubble wrap that's coated with aluminum foil. I then cut ot to fit and wrapped it with duct tape. I can now get things up to temp in a hour or less by covering the tank with aluminum foil, and it hold the heat much longer a well.

I don't have a Cad set up, but did want to back up the last post by adamthomas.

I also use the foil backed insulating bubble wrap on my plating tanks and it has made all of the difference in the world. The initial heat-up time is still fairly slow, but the temperature remains more stable inside of the tanks and the heaters do not have to work near as hard to maintain. Most of the time, I just turn them off.

A quick way to heat up the SP Degreaser is to use a Stainless Steel Stew Pot on the stove-top. This is by far quicker than the ceramic heaters. I take about half of the quantity in my tank, bring it to just below a boil, return the hot liquid to the cold liquid tank and then put the heater in to maintain. That tank is also wrapped with foil bubble-wrap.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Best of luck guys and have a very Merry Christmas!

Curtis
