I want to chrome some pieces on a motorcycle. The hard chrome would be used on pegs, levers and areas subjected to high wear.
1. Why can't hard chrome be used in place of triple chrome? 2. Would I have to use triple chrome on the other areas? 3. Is hard chrome visually different from triple chrome? |

Hard chrome is an industrial repair coating. It's not used for a decorative finish. It's used to build up worn parts, such as machine shafts.
Hard chrome is not shiny. It doesn't look good. It's an industrial process. People are often confused by the term "Hard Chrome". This doesn't mean that decorative chrome is softer or less durable. It simply means that the hard chrome is a much, much thicker layer.
