Default Effect of a magnetic stir bar?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had an idea on the effects of a magnetic sitr bar, like the ones built into lab hot plates would have on plating.

Thanks
Daniel

Default Re: Effect of a magnetic stir bar?

It depends on where the part is placed and the stir speed. If the part is magnetic (steel), needs to be placed as far from the stir bar as possible, to minimize the effect of the magnetic attraction. The stir speed should be enough to agitate the solution to dissipate the hydrogen gas from the surface of the part (or oxygen gas if anodizing), not so fast that it creates a whirlpool.
