Default Masking Agent

Can someone recommend a good, easy to remove masking agent for brush plating?

After reading around on it, I'm getting ready to try some clear nail polish as a mask. Then I'll clean it off with nail polish remover or acetone.

I use plumber's putty. Water and chemical proof and easily molded. I use q-tips to mold around intricate areas. Cheap and reusable.

I need to mask the inside of a marine searchlight housing. It is steel and has suffered a bit of rust damage. I want to flash copper plate it, then acid copper to fill, and finally copy chrome. The external surface area is about 92 sq. in, if don't mask the interior the total will be 184 sq in. I don't have the ability to supply the current for that much area, and I don't want to waste the supplies either.

Is there a smple readily available product I can use? I am thinking about laquer spray paint, or another similar product.

If I remeber correct paint works so laquer I would geus is fine, paint right

I think anything that does not conduct well or is a none metal actaully works for masking, like duct tape, masking tape, electrical tape, etc..

I think I used all 3 above tapes and other similar stuff for stencils when I brush plated stuff, but that was long ago since I did any plating like that. Try them on some junk scrap first, they should work.
