Default removalable masking agent?

I am electroless nickel plating some knives. The handles are bakelite. I'm sure the bakelite could probably withstand the heat, but I'd rather not take the chance! Is there some special easy to remove masking agent available?

Default Re: removalable masking agent?

You can use teflon tape or vinyl tape. It must be rated for "high temp" since electroless nickel operates around 190 degrees F. They also market a tape called "platers tape". You can also use a brush-on or spray-on plastisol-type material. If you have holes you want to mask, you can use elastomer plugs.
