Default power supply ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...8999&rd=1&rd=1

just wanted to know if this would be a good power supply for a 5-10 gallon tripple chrome setup. where going to be putting one to gether in the next few months and a friend im going in on this with just had to have this piece so before i could ask and see what you guys would think about it he made his bid and won. i was trying to stay on a normal 110v setup and this one is a 220 unit so things are already starting out alittle ruff.

Default Re: power supply ?

If the unit works and in my opinion, your buddy lucked out and got a PS that will actually be usable.. Most Newbies get a PS that produces a gazillion volts and one Amp or non-adjustable amps.. it's the Amps that Plate!! And you have to vary the Amps, depending on the surface area of the part being plated.. The Volts will generally "adjust thmselves" to "push" the amps based on the size of the part being plated.,
This unit should handle a surface area of up to 100-150 Sq Inches of Chrome with ease (that's a good thing!), as far as Copper and Nickel goes, it will probably handle WAY more than you will physically be capable of handling from a small "bucket plating kit" (like 1600 sq inches for Nickel).
However, to keep things "rosy" in the partnership, in the future, sit down with your buddy and 'splain to him that things like this and other plating supply purchases in general must be a joint decision... (Trust me, been there, done that.. got stuck with a $5000 bank loan!!).
Chas.
