I'm looking into sort of making a business. Consider it side jobs.
The most popular brackets for cars are usually mass produced, and I know I have no chance of selling cheaper than them. However, many brackets and other small items are not mass produced or not even produced at all. In terms of chrome or polished. So I've found pictures of a few things I'd like to chrome plate and would like to know how this would work and which kit I would use. Also, please remember profit would be a key here. So buying some huge kit that may never see it's use is sort of what I'm trying to avoid. http://www.lunarpages.com/mattsgarage/102057.jpg http://www.lunarpages.com/mattsgarage/31637.jpg And these mounts and brackets below. This person has already had them chromed, and I know the picture is somewhat small. But he paid I believe 300+ to have them plated. http://www.lunarpages.com/mattsgarage/chrome.jpg Also, another item off hand. It's a very odd shaped item. About 3 inches wide and 12-14 inches long with almost 0 thickness. The gallon buckets in the Triple plate chrome kit look as though they would not be able to hold this piece. Because it's too long. It may be even more than 14". Not exactly sure. How would I go about that. And lastly, can Iron be plated as well as the rest of them? |

The links to your pictures don't work and you didn't mention what these are made of, however you'll probably be looking at the triple chrome kit if you want a professional chrome finish.
You may also need some zincate solution if you're plating aluminum and some Pot Metal primer if plating Pot Metal (Zinc Die Cast). You can pour the plating solution into some different shape/size tanks to accomodate long items. Yes you can plate Iron. It plates like Steel.

My fault on the pictures, I should have atleast checked them.
They are here. http://www.lunarpages.com/mattsgarage/caswell.html Also, is there a way to avoid getting the chrome solution in certain parts of the product? I guess you would say a way to mask them off? |

Yep - you can mask with lacquer or use tape etc. Lacquer usually works best.

They contain more solution at a discounted price...allowing you to plate larger parts. You're not limited to the dimensions of the tanks. You can move the solution into any size tank of a suitable material (preferably HDPE)

Makes sense. I guess I'm going to break down and buy the plating book soon. But first I'll be buying your buffer and buffing pads. I must admit, you have the best deals on the majority of the stuff.
Thanks for answering my questions |
