I'm new and a little confused. In prepairing AL for plating I assumed that the metal is buffed, double zincated and then on to the rest of the plating process then I read an article saying sand to 600G, double zincate, copper flash, acid copper then buff. Could someone be kind enough to tell me the proper procedure? The end product will be decorative chrome. One more question is; Is there a non-destructive way of seeing what alloy of Aluminum I am working with? The reason for asking is that I have seen 3 different pickle recipes depending on what is alloyed with the aluminum.
