Default How Hard/Durable are the Plated Surfaces

Subject says it all I guess. Will it flake off or is the electroplating process pretty durable? Zinc has seemed to hold up so far. Curious about the Chromate and black oxide finishes. I'm specifically referring to nuts and bolts that are plated in these finishes:

zinc/cad - Copy Cad Kit
chromate (yellow and black) - Copy Cad Kit
cold black oxide - Black Oxide Kit

if the surface is prepared properly no plating will flake off,its permenant bonded to each layer. proper cleaning is the most important step, including a proper water break test. preperation is the hard part, plating is the easy part.

As stated by bill, if prep work is carried out correctly all the chromated finishes are very durable as they are all true tried and tested industry standard formulas. The real upside over a comercial plating shop is that you will be rack plating which always provides a superior finish. Just follow the directions to the letter and you will be very pleased
