I am looking at purchasing an electroless plating kit to help with antique vehicle restorations. What I would like to do is plate a corrosion resistant layer onto the inside of the brake cylinders, as well as to use the plating to "build up" worn cylinders to bring them back into spec. My questions are:
Has anyone else done this? What were the results? Which would be better for this task, electroless nickel, or electroless chrome? Could powder coating on the outside of the cylinder be used as masking? Will the plating process have any effect on the powder coating? Thanks |
