The front brakes on my 1982 Honda Blackhawk started binding, so I took apart the calipers and found some corrosion and slight pitting on the pistons, mostly about .25 inch from the outside surface that contacts the brake pads.
The bores seem to have a yellowish plating, some of which of course wore away as I was polishing them. Now the pistons, which seem to be made of steel, would most likely rust and corrode even sooner. The question I have is what would be the best plating to use on the pistons? Thanks for having such an excellent forum! |
