Default Black Chrome for Emblems?

I wish to give my car emblems a "black chrome" or "Statuary bronze" type of finish.

How would I go about doing this?

The nissan emblems have a chrome/nickel looking finish on them, but the 350z emblems seem to have a flat metallic finish.

Any help is appreciated.

Have a look at these antiquing solutions. http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/metal.htm

I expect one of these will get the finish you're looking for.

You can get a flat, metallic plated look by starting with a flat metallic look before plating. You can do this by bead blasting, or scotchbriting the metal.

The finish on the part before you plate dictates the finish of the end result. Shiny parts in=shiny parts out. Flat parts in=flat parts out.

Default Hmm...

Thanks for the quick reply. How would I go about ordering some of that solution? I live in Hawaii and I assume air shipping is the only option, but not available.

Also, are the emblems on modern cars today usually plastic, plated with a metal? I dont think the emblems on my car are metal. Would I be able to just take them off and dip them without harm to the plastic?

Thanks

Al

Items marked ORM-D cannot be shipped by air or US Mail. We can't deliver these to HI.

These solutions only work on the metals listed. They won't work on plastic, unless they have been plated.
