Default Get rid of wax after copper plating

Hello,
I finally got the acid copper plating to work on some brown wax using the Silvaspray!

Now, i have tried several different methods to get rid of the wax.
These include:
1. melting the wax in my oven, now the oven stinks every time i use it and the house smelled like wax.
2. using a hand held torch to melt the wax, the wax caught on fire.
3. using boiling water on the stove, what happens that the wax melts out great, but it then adheres to the front of the piece, to the nice copper i have.

If anyone could offer some suggestions on how to get rid of the wax easily, i would appreciate it.

Can you give me more info? I would suggest making a silicone mold of the wax object and then plating the mold. Silvaspray works great on silicone and solves the whole wax issue.

sams,
i create a piece of artwork in clay. make a silicone/polyurethane mold. cast wax, then i spray silvaspray onto the wax piece, and try to plate that.

you can submerge the silicone into the plating bath? have you done this before? it doesnt degrade the silicone mold?

Silicone is usually fine in the baths, I have used various RTV componds in my baths. Take a look at the dow corning site and get intouch with their tech help and talk it through with them.

Cheers
