Experienced help needed

I want to plate several small tool box locks and latches like the ones pictured above, my question is would the copy chrome or the nickel plate be best suited for these as they are assembled and i don't know witch (copy chrome or nickel) would be potentially harmful to the spring mechanisms inside these locks & latches
