I went up to 25L (6.6 gal US) setups but stuck with the round food grade PE and PP buckets. The diameter is a lot bigger so useable plating area between the anodes is good for doing a reasonable run at a time of small parts and copes with brake components and stuff easily. I still use a fish tank pump and also a medium volume aquarium pump with some PE filter cloth to also stirr the tank. depending on what I am plating

You could try square PE or PP storage bins from a storage shop. There are some fairly sturdy ones around and they come in all different sizes and usually have lids that latch on. I have contemplated doing this to get my zinc setup to do longer parts. I would recomend doubling up on anodes so 2 on each long side perhaps.

Let us know how you go.

Cheers Mark

Thanks v6 i have a new 6 gal. bucket also, heavily into carbs. looking for a easier way, open for ideas. My working area is really small so thats why i asked. i have had a 12 x 12 inch by 12 inch deep tank made for me. Just looking for ideas, its a shame the forums does not handle this type of area.

I see you are heavily into carbs. I did my Holley and ended up zinc plating first then yellow chromate. I didn't like the way it looked when I blasted the housing then into chromate. How do you do yours to make them look original?

Rick

68 goat, i naturally strip the body and take out idle tubes, screw bolts back into all holes with threads and glassbead the carb. Next after blowing it out, all the little passages, i use my degreaser at 140 degree,s and wash it threw and thru, after i rinse carb. with tap water usually as hot as i can stand it with rubber gloves and air dry carb after blowing it out with air. Next i drop the body into a 5% mauratic acid bathe with distilled water about 1 gal. for id say 40 sec. to a min. and then drop body into distilled water tube and dry it out again the then put carb. into my electrolyte solution for 15 min. to 18 min. 5 volts andi believe 2.3 amps. after its out i drop it into distilled bathe again & then go to the yellow cad solution and swirl the carb. around for 50 sec. to a minute, remove and let air drye. This is what i do!! Only problem im having is that the 3 gal. pale im using now is to small, carb sometimes hits the electroids, not good to do, some little niucks and crannys does not get plated, always looking for better ideas. for sure!!

MrPontiac -- Thanks for the reply. I pretty much do what you do, and just recently started using the muriatic acid dip, which really helped the zinc process. Here is a photo of how mine turned out, I now know that i should have plated (without) brightener, but it is what it is cuz I am not going to do it over. The next one I will try with (no) brightener.

Here is a link to my project, from one Pontiac guy to another...............
