68, no !! im trying there troubleshooting area first, this is a real pain, cannot be that hard, i figured somekind of change would happen once part was dipping into it. Wrong!! solid yellow, states right on the bottle green olive drab chromate.
?? Read the book again, it also states temp should be at 80, i tryed 80 and 85 degree,s no luck, I am like you, invested alot of money in caswell products ,everything works great except this product, sure hope someone e-mails me soon. |

68, im being told i should leave my parts in the copy cad for at least 20 min. before i drop them into green drab chromate
Hummm, my parts are coming out excellant out of the copy cad solution, its the green drab solution i cannot figure out>> Why or should it not be green in color instaed of yellow?? Most of my green grab parts are smaller than your little finger, why must i put them into a cad solution for 20 min.?? Got me confused?? |

Well that doesn't sound like your problem, although I have experienced problems with yellow chromate when the copy cad is not thick enough. The yellow chromate will eat some of the cad and I assume the olive drab would be the same, so you do have to have enough for successfull chromating. I like to leave even small parts in the cad for a good 10 minutes or so with plenty of amperage, as long as it isn't burning the zinc or getting a rough surface. I would think if you didn't have enough zinc on the part it would still turn a shade of green instead of yellow.
Let me know how it turns out with thicker plating. |
