I have a question on the "online manual" I have received copies in the past from certain companies that have their manuals that are supposedly complete and the best! The only real thing that these manuals help is their business. My question is Does this manual actually do more than promote the company brand name products Such as " if you want to copper plate you will need caswell copper plating solution #1 #2 #3 and mix with caswell solution #5 Then use the caswell rectifier #42566 set at correct manual directions" ETC. I need a good old nitty gritty manual that informs me how much sufuric acid to copper sufide I need for a bath 5 gal. Any Ideas??

Then you don't need a manual, you need a chemical engineer experienced in plating. There are proprietary compounds in most plating solutions so it goes beyond just mixing an acid with a metal salt. It boils down to trade secrets and time consuming testing of various compounds. Caswell's plating manual gives very detailed instructions on how to use the chemicals they sell. Using other chemicals would not give you the same results.
Would you use a Corvette manual to work on a Ford? |
