Default Chrome plastic Auto emblems to black chrome

I want my chrome grill and emblems to be black chrome. Everything is of course plastic.

1. How did they get these parts chrome to begin with, especially the grill which is 1.5 ft by 3ft, (total plastic)?

2. Does it have metal content now that it is chrome?

3. I will need stripper to remove chrome from what I have read, correct? How much stripping will they need? Till they are black plastic again?

4. they are stuck to the vehicle, so I need the plug and plate kit, correct? Do the alligator clips scratch the surface? How much to do the grill? Would it be more efficient to dunk half the grill at a time?

Thanks I just want to make sure I get the right kit.
