Black chrome - Plating Powder Coating Buffing Anodizing

I have seen ads for black chrome finishing for firearms. What is this process and do you have any sources for materials and techniques?

We've played with it, unsuccessfully.

We have a black oxide for guns, but it's not the same. See http://www.caswellplating.com/frames...tom=/black.htm

Could you give details about this not being successful. I too, have been considering Black Chrome for firearms.

Can the Black Chrome be plated directly to the gun steel?

Would it be better if the firearm components were nickle and/or copper plated first?

Hey, that's actually very nice. What is the corrosion resistance of the finish?
