Default No rusting?!

I need help as I am a machinist but not that smart when it comes to plating. I have a product I am making that uses steel crimps made of 1026 tubing. They are about 1" in diameter, .150 thick with a .810 I.D. This product will be in water for some time so I need them to not rust. Making them out of S.S. is not an option. Any type of plating that would accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

Just about anything will degrade eventually. Maybe someone with more experience will step in, but I'll throw my 2 cents in and recommend either the electroless nickel or electroless copy chrome.
