A valve cover should not require any masking--assuming you want to plate the outside and not the inside, or rather one side and not the other. When you set up your tank and place your part simply have all the anodes on the side you want plated. The back/inside will be in shadow (anode shadow) an will either not plate, or just barely plate near the edges.
If you really want to use a mask, Caswell sells several masking materials--check their main page. |

sorry about the time delay.
i thought as much about the shadow but just worrying about the edges having a little chrome and eventually flaking into the oil was offering an alternative solution to the 1hr drying that the mask-it requires or using the vht clear which has to me striped off. thinking back silicon is magnetic permeable so probably wouldn't work like it does for powder coat(2 diff processes magnetic ves conductive) after research the only magnetic cancellation i found was mumetal but not sure the affects the chrome or copy chrome would have on this, and im pretty sure it has to be grounded(could be wrong). |
