Tank Plating Bar???

Hi all,

I've been searching these forums for tips on why my zinc plating isn't coming out a bright color. I know I would need to post specific operating parameters to get answers to specific questions about specific parts and will probably do so later.

My question is this. Do you have to use a piece of copper pipe for your tank plating bar? I set my outfit up with an aluminum bar like you would use for a ground bar in a breaker box. It works real nice because it has screws spaced about a 1/4" apart which makes hanging hooks for hanging parts very versitile. Is there any reason to not use aluminum here?

Aluminium will conduct fine, however any splash that gets on the bar and drips back into the tank will drag aluminium into the solution. Chloride zinc will corode aluminium. Just make sure you keep the bar clean and dry. Not really a major issue.

Copper is usually used as it is one of the best conductors around.
