Hi all... Just a quick question re- gold plating thickness,i have been brush plating gold for around 2 years but would like to know how the brush plating compares to tank plating.
Will the tank plating method give a thicker finish or is it possible to match the performance of tank plating with the brush method? Every job i have completed for a customer looks good but im always a little unsure of how thick the gold is and how long it will last? I always plate for a long period and go over the item many times but alway feel i want to do it for longer and apply more & more but as others will know ...you can only spend so long on an item, is their a rule for plating thickness? |

Gold plating is often used in electronics for providing a corrosion-resistant electrically conductive cotting on copper, typically in electrical connectors and printed circuit board. When gold is applied the ions from these base metals will diffuse into the gold layer and degrade its hardness and non-oxidizing properties. An antidiffusion underplate such as nickel should be used to prevent this.
