Default Plating a Rochester, I have a question

Ok im cad plating a 4 bl. Rochester, glassbeaded the carb. blew it all out, slightly polished on a wire wheel, etched with mauratic acid dip and then plated, then dipped carb. into yellow cad solution, came out super ,BUTT, the carb. looks to yellow instead of a darker tan color. Im using no brightner, Carb. looks great ,you can see the blue,s and golds, and yellows, I want the carb. to look more of a tan color. QUESTION, am i trying to do this in the wrong manner?? Any input would be apprec. 6.0 amps perfect with 1.6 volts
for 25 min. temp at 90, so what do you think?? I will try and post a picture in the future.

The yellow chromate will go darker if left longer but tends to be more purple, but you will need to play around with some test pieces to see how long to leave it. Not all chromates give the same results, and most now are trivalent eco friendly and tend to be more yellow than the older chromates. You are pretty much stuck with yellow and getting a tan colour will be very difficult.

I take it you solved your white swirl problems with your zinc plating?

Cheers

Mark
