Default Our Friends at the EPA

I'm curious if anyone has actually consulted the EPA folks about plating in a residential garage/hobby setting.

I've got a small 3 gallon nickel plate tank and a 5 gallon anodizing setup. This is far from being a large industrial process.

Has anyone with a similarly small setup had contact with government, and what kind of experience did you have?

Thanks!

-Archie

Neither process is regulated by the EPA.

250 tons/yr. gas or particulate. ....BUT.... !!!

Your state's environmental quality commission may have a different view. If you live within the bounds of an incorporated city or homeowner association, they too may have something to say about your setup. Each state is different but if you're in "business", it's to your advantage to educate yourself on your state's rules. A single non-compliance could cost you tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. Some states require a permit even if it's a "Permit by Exception". This is generally a permit for low emission facilities or that use/produce less than some designated quantity of material or emissions.
