Default Chrome plating

Hi all, I'm new on here so please excuse my ignorance!!!
I'm in the middle of a M/Cycle rebuild and a lot of the
parts are no longer available so I've started to do a lot
of zinc plating myself, only to stop rusting and not for
any aesthetic reasons, with reasonable results. I also
have a swinging arm (I beleive it's called rear forks in
the US) that I found on eBay. It's made of mild steel
and is chromed, but in certain areas, it is corroded to
an extent that I can't polish it out, so it will need to be
stripped bare and re-plated. I have always been under
the impression that the chrome plating process produces
copious amounts of cyanide gas and therefore not practical
for the home enthusiast/DIY. Is this correct? As I have
contacted professional companies to strip and re-plate,
but the money they are asking is more than the M/Cycle
is worth!!
Here's a pic of the object in question....
Many thanks, Nick.

No, not at all. There is no cyanide in chrome, or any of the other plating processes we sell.
