I've sandblasted my caliper halves and want the original gold colored cadmium plating like the professional caliper rebuilders use, instead of paint. The Copy Cad Plating Kit is what I'm considering. Do the cylinder bores typically get plated too. If not, can I mask off areas not to be plated and still use the Cad plating kit. Also, what the resulting plating thickness and consistency? I'm concerned that the halves won't seal properly and pistons won't fit correctly if the coating's too thick (around edges, etc).
Thanks Ed |

You can mask off any areas you don't want plated. The thickness of the plate is determined by the amount of time in the bath, so you have total control over thickness. A bit of experimentation will lead to the correct time for your parts.
