I need to build up the diameter of a set of worn trumpet valves (approx 2-3 thousandths of an inch. The valves appear to be nickle plated. Should I strip the existing plating with nitric acid, build up with copper plating, and finish with nickle, or can I just over-plate with nickle?
Also recommendations on temp/voltage and amperage. I would plate in a 1000ml beaker with titanium anode. Nikhil |

You'd be better off building with copper plate. It's faster to appy and easier to polish to a high shine. You can plate copper over nickel.
Why not use a copper anode? It will speed up application.
