I have a small, decorative pen holder that is SOLID BRASS with a gold finish on it. I want to Chrome Plug 'N Plate it because I need it to be a shiny chrome color. Do I have to remove the gold finish or can I just plate over it? If I have to remove the gold finish, what is the best way? Thanks for your time.

If it's gold plated, you can plate directly over it. If it's a painted (or other)finish, you'll need to strip it.
