    Default Zinc Plate Prep?

How would I go about preping some parts to be zinc plated? Im doing some motorcycle wheel hubs and various nuts and bolts. I don't want a flat (silver spraypaint) look when finished so what would be the best method to prep these parts to obtain a smooth finish? Just glass bead blast and then use a fine wire wheel to slighty polish the part and then its ready for plating?

That would work but keep in mind that the plating will conform to the surface finish--It doesn't fill scratches or pits. If the item looks wire brushed then the plate will look brushed too. For a smooth, shinny finish, the item needs polished. Also, the item needs cleaned after any handling and before plating. Oils, grease, polish and even a finger print will show up as any contaminates on the surface will not plate.
