Default Clear coating?

I have a few questions on finishing polished aluminum. Fist is clear coating. I am not sure what type of clear coat to use and what the different applcations are. Also what can i use to clean the polished surface to remove all oils and dirt to allow the clear coat to adhear properly and still maintain the final look.

I am using sprial sewn wheels with emry then tripoli, then white rouge with a loose wheele , then Mothers \"mag & aluminum polish\". This gives a great finish, almost mirror. But I do not want to spent the rest of my time polishing, would like to ride a little... lol Also, how do i prevent a cloudy finish? Seems like really fine scratches?

thanks for your time...

I think Derrik is trying to ask what he should do for a clear-coat after he has gotten the polishing the way he wants it.
I too must admit I am curious as to what possibilities there are for a \"clear-coat in a can\" concept. Is there something like that out there?

Thanks
J.P.

Which is better for clear coating aluminum motorcycle frames? VHT - Clear (PROD SP-115), VHT - Genuine Lacquer (PROD SP-610) or GLISTEN PC (PROD GLISq)

I have been polishing aluminum parts on my motorcycle and have gotten a nice shine. I am now ready to add the VHT clear coat. I read this web sites wheel polishing directions but cannot figure out the best way to prepare the surface before spraying. I suspect spraying directly after using polishing compound is not the way to go. Any suggestions?

Just make sure the part is free of grease, oil, fingerprints etc. Clean it with some degreaser. Then go ahead and spray it.
