Sorry, yet another wheel polishing thread. I have read as many threads and manuals as possible and need to ask if my current order list will suffice for my needs. I have a set of polished aluminum wheels that are new but have been in storage for awhile. I need to polish out the minor surface scratches because I'm anal about these things. I have mothers billet which offers a nice luster but wont cut the scratches that I can see in/under sunlight or bright halides. I would rather not remove the nut/bots from the wheels to polish and planned on trying to polish around them with Felt bobs if possible. I don't think I need anything that is very abrasive but I'm unsure about that at this point. I have a 3k rpm drill available along with a Pneumatic Die grinder, makita 9227 and makita 4 inch angle. I'm unsure which would offer the best polishing options and I'm thinking the Drill or angle grinder with 4 inch wheels? This is the list that I have currently put together. I have several 6 inch spiral sewn cotton wheels from Home Depot, I can order others if these aren't worth a ****.
MB35 Mushroom Buff - 3.5 Inch Dia x2
BUFBLG395 Bullet Felt Bob x2
WR995 Wheel Rake x1
LCW87 Loose Cotton Wheel Hole Size: 1/2" x2
TB2 Tapered Buff x2
CONEFB Cone Felt Bob - 3/4 x2
WLR12 White Liquid Rouge x1
Should I be adding a more aggressive compound/abrasive?
Wheel pics with issues I'm trying to resolve. Click on the image to maximize and see the marring. It looks as if they were wiped down with a cloth that wasn't polish friendly.
Thanks,
