HELP
O.K. not sure i spelt "hugh" right, lol, but i cant get rid of it!
heres a pic of what im polishing.
its stainless steel. i got it turning out pretty good, but i get this blueish tint that shows up in just the right light ( i couldnt get it to show in pics though)
I started with a sisal wheel with black compound, then went to a spiral sewn wheel with the green compound. shines like crazy, but has that blueish tint.
am i missing a step? or doing somehting wrong? HELP!!

It's probably chrome in the stainless. Depending on the type of stainless and how it was cut (torch, laser, water, punch, etc) you can get chrome-carbides in the heat affected zone (HAZ). Not much you can do since the carbides will be throughout the heated area. In the future, use an "L" suffix stainless which is low carbon or change your method of cutting. Or it could be the way the SS was processed in sheet form.
i dont think its in the stainless. I had 15 of these burned out (lazer cut) and someone
else polished them for me. they were beautiful. shined like chrome. but there were 3 of them that just didnt turn out that well. they were the first ones he did, and he hadnt gotten his process down yet. i asked him to redo those, but he declided, said it was to much a PIA, lol
so i got the supplies and am redoing them myself, or trying, lol
Im not sure of the grade of stainless it is, just that its used for food and hospital from where i work.
