Default Anyone use cratex rubberized abrasives?

I use them to get into tight / hard to get to corners prior to using a shaped felt bob with compound (in the areas that a mop cant get to)

I find the cratex better than cartridge rolls for this job.

Anyone else use them? Where do you get them from?

I always buy them from the states via e-bay but cant always get them as the guy who has the e-bay shop doesn’t always have them in.

Details of other suppliers would be great, if not, i would be interested to know what methods you use to get into the hard to reach corners / areas for mirror polishing,

    regards,

I use them a lot, I don't consider them a replacement for cartridge rolls though, I would place Cratex between cartridge rolls and greaseless compound. I buy mine on Ebay also, Gunsmith supply houses like Brownell's carries them but they are expensive.

Yes i agree, on some work i just use the cratex, coarse then fine then straight to felt bob with compound but on other work like rough cast parts or work that has large areas that i cant get to with the big tools i use the cartridge rolls first, i run them nice and fast like 15000 rpm and i find they work well, i was surprised at first as to how effective they were are clearing the material away prior to polishing with coarse. I buy those from the states via and ebay shop two.

Thought most places sold them. Well Wolf in south london where we used to buy mops and stuff sold them and J&L have them in their catalog.

Well as i always just got them from e-bay i didn’t really look elsewhere but as ebay availability got intermittent i put up the post, just waiting to hear back from a local supplier but who are J+L, what’s their full name, i'll have a look at what they have two,

    regards,
