I use an air die grinder with 2 inch wheels sometimes, but I only run it at around 10,000. 25,000 is way too fast.

Hi all I don`t know if this has been asked before or not but here goes, Last year I made a mistake and bought a Die grinder (25000 RPM) and have since found out it`s not good for polishing. My question is can I get a polishing mop for this that will not disintegrate with the speed. Look forward to your advice thanks in advance, Stuart.

How big is the mop you are using mate? I use some 1/2 - 1in pieces on my 35000rpm elec rotary, or failing them, just wrap some good quality cotton cloths around a slit-cut drill bit and tape the bottoms. Mine doesn't go past 5-9000rpm for polishing, but once you get the hang, the are fantastic. I would give the drill and cloth a go, i find myself using that the most
Alternatively btw, Dremel and many other rotary companies sell all the regular-sized stuff but in small form too. You can find everything mini-sized, felt mops, stitched wheel, regular cotton wheel, everything bar a mini sisal. What stage of polishing are you using them for by the way? Actual compound work, or with greaseless etc? Anything other than the final light buffs, and they will be torn to shreds quite quickly i've found
if it's air don't push the trigger all the way. my cheep one will run slower with less pressure on the trigger. try turning down the pressure. if your running 90psi try 60, 50, 40... at some lower pressure it will not turn or have no torque. but mops at the correct speed will come apart if they run over an edge the wrong way.
