Default newbie, cant get a mirror finish on alu bbs wheels.

Hi! im new at this polishing metal and buffing things so here it goes:
Ive bought some BBS RC035/038 wheels that im refinishing. And i want the lip to be mirror polished so i bought a aluminium polishing set from a shop where i live with to wheels, a sisal and a loose wheel, green and pink compound. I sanded the lip on the wheels with 120, 240, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000 before i tryed the green compound with sisal (ive read something about thats not good cause the green will just ruin my previous sanding up to 2000) and the lip got really shiny, but got allot of black "streaks", haze and some tiny scratches in same direction as the sisal.! Maybe ive put to much green compound on the wheel ? but then i tried the pink and loose wheel to se if this would help but it didnt at all.. So i got very frustrated and bought some Autosol and Meguiars Metal Polish and it helped a bit on the haze but the shine went away.
I appreciate all the tipps and tricks i can get!

Edit: I use a Protool 18v hand held drill and 6" wheels. on 4th gear the drill has 3850 rpm..

I'm no pro either, but I wouldn't use the sisal buff. A sewn cotton flannel would work better on aluminum as it won't leave scratches like the sisal and allows you to use more pressure. Also I don't think you need to sand wiith anything higher than 600 grit-Mike

Good Lord, using a sisal wheel after sanding to 2000. You should have been able to bring it up perfect with a light touch with red rouge after 2000 grit sand paper. The sisal took you all the way back to where you were at 120 grit. Don't use sisal on aluminum.

Sand to 600 grit. Then use emery on a sewn cotton wheel. Then use tripoli on a clean sewn cotton wheel. Then use something finer on another clean cotton wheel. I like red rouse for a final polish.
