Need more details. Material? Wheel type/speed? compound?
Sounds like you need to hand sand with 1000 and rebuff and see if the lines disappear.
I'm useing a hand held buffer. When I pull the buffer of the part to apply more compound and then get back on my part I can not get exactly back on where I left off. Then I see a line. So how do i remove these lines? Any help would greatly be appreciated!

sounds more like buffing line and not polishing lines so i don t think that sanding would fix it .
if it is buffing lines you could try buffing the whole part without worry about the line then when you are done try to go over the entire part in one shot without stopping . i don t know what kind of part your working on so this might not be possible in some cases .
another way of doing would be when buffing before stopping try to reduce the pressure on the part a few inches before stopping then when you start again start a few inches back from where you left off and start applying pressure gradually .
too much compound on the buff or on the workpiece will also increase this line
ok baz thanks i'll give that a try! I'm working on a fender for a tractor trailer right now just some scrap aluminum. But I have done a fuel tank also and still see the lines. It seems even if I go really slow I still get lines?
