    Default stainless compound

    have been using black then tripoli then green. bought some stainless compound from you
    but no directions. can I use instead of black? having trouble removing marks from black stage

    stainless is harder than aluminium to polish . needs to be really smooth before buffing stage and yes you can use the stainless compound instead of the black but like i said the part must be real smooth ,anything that you can feel with your finger nail chances are that you won t be able to remove with compound alone .
    when buffing stainless you need to generate more heat or friction than with aluminium , more pressure on the work piece along with a stiffer buffing wheel (stacking 2 wheels together can make for a stiffer wheel )and add compound as needed, don t let the part or buffing wheel run dry

    Baz is right on—you really can't buff out scratches in stainless like you can in aluminum; it too damn hard. I find that black emery breaks down too fast on stainless. It cuts fine at first, but then just polishes. The abrasive in the stainless compounds, on the other hand, seems to be harder. I use a coarse stainless compound first, and then a finer one, finishing up with white or red rouge.
