pleasure all the way. i'm only 16 years old. i just want to know how to get this piece of metal to shine like chrome, i would love to have that gift. but i think the only way to make it polished like chrome is to invest.

Not necessarily. The polishing I've been doing for the past few weeks has all been done with a Makita 1/2" drill, a flex shaft and my Dremel. Granted, I've just about worn out the drill but with *GOOD* wheels/buffs/bobs from Caswell and a good selection of compounds, I've had good results. This forum and the active participants have been a great help as well.

A few folks on an ATV forum I participate in have asked me if I'd polish things for them. I just "sold" my 1st job and will be getting parts in about a week. (as well as a new Jet buffing machine) Who knows what might happen in your case? Someone might see your work and ask if you could do the same for them.

Ok now I'm really confused so I'll jump in. I was about to plop down $199 dollars for a Baldar 762r grinder/buffer at Amazon.com It's a 1/2 hp but only draws 3.4 amps. I know this is a good product but from what I have been reading it won't handle the job. I might as well look at Harbor Freight for one of their knock offs at 1/2 the price. If it isn't going to work why pay more? I mainly want to buff old brass lamps etc. As far as the grinder I think any cheepo would take care of that. Besides the speed is too fast to sharpen shop tools. Any comments?

I know it wasn't planet sand 'cuz I've never been there. I *think* it was bansheehq.com, but don't hold me to that. I participate in 3 or 4 ATV forums pretty regularly so it's hard to keep 'em all straight.
