Congrats on the new toy! Yes, the part will heat up real fast, pickup some nice gloves and you should be ok, or if you live out east like myself, puti toutside for 4 seconds, and the 10 degree weather will cool it right off

You can use some welding gloves, or thick work gloves. Thats what I use.

Heya all

For normal polishing i will use "rigger" style gloves, they are reasonably thin, so you can feel the part and it wont slip, and they are also made from leather and cheap as!!
For stainless polishing that gets real hot i use nomex pit crew gloves with little silicon non-slip dimples on them, they are a bit more expensive, but they work better with the higher temps and are still thin enough to not fumble around the job

Mark!!

i got the motor out of a old garage that i cleaned out for a lady along with alot of other stuff and power tools ...... i got a 8" wheel on it but i know it will run alot bigger ... it is a craftsman.... i got the mandels from caswell for 7.50 each ..... from what i learned so far the smaller the wheel the hotter that part gets... but other than that 30 min. in to a valve cover and you get what i have in the pic above .....
