I recently scratched the blued barrel of one of my new guns, so I tried to polish this out by hand using wet and dry and wire wool. But whenever I apply some cold bluing it feels very rough. Why?

probably because you used a wire wheel on it and didnt sand it enough.

Is it possible to get a mirror finish without using a polishing wheel is so how. thanks![]()
i dont know of a way to get a mirror finish without a buffing wheel and i also havent ever sanded past 600 grit so i dont know if you would get the result your looking for this way either. what is the highest grit of paper you used

I've sanded decorative copper up to 2000 grit before and it comes out *almost* looking polished.
Wonder if the >$20 for a wheel (or two) some compound and an arbor might be worth it....
don't you see the scraches left by the sand paper![]()
