Default Chrome polishing

I have an old british bike with chrome fenders. The chrome has small specks of rust on the surface. Is it possible to polish the chrome and remove these specks or is a re-chrome necessary?

Depending on how deep the rust goes, it may be possible to just polish it out. It certainly wouldn't be a waste of time or money to try.

Polish chrome using a white buffing compound and a cotton wheel.

would that be a loose cotton wheel or a spiral sewn wheel? Those are made of cotton to right?

Either one would do. A spiral wheel will do the work faster. A loose wheel will give a lighter touch.

The spiral sown would go faster... But would the loose cotton provide a better finish? Maybe this person should do a two stage polish what ya think CASWELL?
