I am going to order a shaft extender for a motor to use as a buffer. The shaft is 5/8" and rotation is CCW. Does the rotation direction determine whether I need a right hand or left hand thread? If so, which would I need for CCW rotation?

yes it dose... you don't want the buff to come loose when you are working on a part ...... caswell got them in both left and right hand thread ...
