Default Grit sizes

This has been asked before by someone else, but went without comment, possibly because no one here knows the answer:

Anybody know the grit equivalnent of the various compounds?

Thanks, I'll try him.

I was aware of the progression of compounds. It would be nice to know what grit the emery is at least so if one is using sandpaper you don't go past emery in the grit sizes before you switch to it. Make sense?

Here is the response from Caswell:

"It really doesn't work quite like that. Although there are different
abrasives in the compounds, because of the speed of the wheels they cut
differently than grit papers etc.

Download our free buffing and polishing booklet for more info."
