Buffing and Polishing Tube

Hello All,

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now and have found lots of very useful information. Thanks much.

I'm trying to buff and polish my brake lines. I believe they are made of aluminum. I have had great success with sanding them by hand with 150, 220,320,400,600, 1500 then finishing Mother's Aluminum Polish. This creates a great shine, that I am very stisfied with. But it takes about 4 hours to do a 2' piece.

I have power buffed and polished my master cylinder, which is also aluminum, though maybe billet. When I try using the same system, the tubing just looks hazy. If I concentrate on a small area, it will shine well, but when I move on the haze seems to go to whatever area I'm not currently poishing. It seems like because it's a small diameter tube, the wheel is always polishing what's in front, but flapping the sides and dulling there. I'm using a loose sewn buff for the final stage, should switch to a tight sewn?

Any ideas?

Anybody? Is this the first time anybody has tried polishing 1/4" diameter tube?
