transparent paint after polishing

Hi,
I'm Mario from Italy sorry if my english is not perfect.
This is my question:
In past i've already polished some objects (from the engine of my car) and i've noticed that after some weeks they become whitish and sometimes they get rust! Now i've ordered a flitz's cream to protect them but i've had an idea. I'm planning to paint the polished objects with a transapent paint to protect them from the oxide. I may be wrong but i suppose the oxide is caused by the contact of the metal with the air, so if i paint the metal i think it will be polished forever. What do you think about? Has anyone never do it?The problem is that if i paint it,if in future it become whitish i won't be able to polish it because of transparent paint on it. so i've to be sure that if i paint it it will not became oxidized.

Hey Mario, I don't think clear coating them will work. The only way to keep them looking nice when they start looking dirty and dull is to buff on them again. Look through the forum and you'll find some threads on this subject. And don't worry about your English, it's just fine. Good luck!

the best cover for fresh polished parts is zoopseal, from what i read here. it is expensive but worth it if it lasts the 2 years it is said to. caswells sell it and you can read about it on the website or call the support line or e-mail and ask them. it is said to coat and not discolor like some clear coats will. also if these are engine parts most clear will discolor with the heat of the engine, something to keep in mind. best of luck. and easleysp is right your english is fine.
