Polishing a motorcycle engine

I have a new motorcycle engine I want to polish to a chrome "like" finish. What is the best compounds and devices to use? What would be the best full kit to do this work?

First, look at Caswell's polishing manual - you can download it in PDF format, then you'll have a better idea of what questions to ask.

What engine is it? Is it a rough-cast finish or already smooth?
