Default How do you that chrome finish on aluminum?

I polished my center caps on my wheels and they look great. Then i saw a pic of someone else\'s polished wheels and they look like they are chrome. What did they do that did not do? I use 8\" sewn cotton wheels. I did the black, brown, white, red, and then finished up with mother\'s new billet polish. I looked at his wheels and you can\'t see the sanding scratches. It looks like solid chrome. On mine you can see fine scratches. Do i need to use the blue or a different wheel?

You cannot feel the scratches. I have actually read that post several times to get some pointers. I put some mother\'s billet polsish on and it cleaned up really nice. It\'s at the point of where i would feel good enough to install it on my car but holding it next to the other guys is like putting it next to a chrome plated item. It\'s perfect. Should i use a softer wheel and perhaps a finer compund to make the sanding marks(scratches) finer?

In re-reading your post and looking at your picture again, I think those streaky marks could be compound residue.

You certainly don't need to use the red compound. Try re-polishing it with the brown, then white compound and make sure to use VERY SMALL AMOUNTS of compound.

Spin the wheel, apply the compound bar to the wheel for ONE second, then polish for a minute, then re-apply the compound and repeat.

Let us know if that doesn't solve the problem, and keep posting those pictures.
